Naturally, heat flows from a higher to a lower temperature. However, heat pumps are able to force the heat flow in the opposite direction, using a small amount of high-quality drive energy, such as electricity, fuel or high-temperature waste heat.
Ground source heat pumps extract heat from the ground using pipe work buried in the ground, this heat can then be used to heat radiators, underfloor heating or a hot water system.
